About the volunteering opportunity
in 2005, the VBKI Citizens' Network for Education founded this exemplary project to open up new perspectives for socially disadvantaged children and young people with reading difficulties. Over 2,400 volunteer reading mentors, who support more than 12,000 Berlin children in 300 Berlin schools and daycare centers every week, make the "Berlin Reading Mentors" the largest Berlin volunteer project in the education sector today.
The need for support has remained high for years and "Berliner Lesepaten" is constantly looking for new volunteers.

Your Tasks
Your commitment will take place at one of the Berlin partner schools that you will be placed with via the VBKI. You will support children to improve their reading and learning skills in parallel to lessons or in the afternoon in all-day activities with individual children or in small groups. You will be permanently assigned to a class. The focus of reading mentoring in schools is not on reading aloud, but on promoting the child's reading skills.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You should enjoy working with children and be interested in promoting their individual reading and learning skills.
