About the volunteering opportunity

In this project, you will get creative and sew so-called heart cushions.

These pillows are shaped like a heart and are placed under the arm of breast cancer patients. They relieve scar pain and lymphatic swelling, make it easier to lie down and offer protection in the event of sudden movements or bumps, for example when coughing or in everyday life.

Your Tasks

Under the guidance of a professional seamstress, you will sew 5 heart cushions, which will then be sent to various clinics or breast cancer centers. We will provide you with the contacts, as well as a dispatch bill, so that there are no costs for you.

Procedure:

  • a few days before the commitment: You will receive the necessary materials by post (fabrics, filling material, various needles). You will have the opportunity to enter your address after registration.
  • On 07.04.2026
    • 09:00: We will meet at Zoom. Here you will be welcomed by a sewing expert who will guide the whole activity.
    • 09:15- 12:30: Time to sew and chat with colleagues.
    • 12:30- 13:00: We finish our sewing projects and share our results with each other.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.
You should be up for a creative project and have experience with a sewing machine (but don't worry, you will be very well guided in sewing).

What to bring

You need: sewing machine, fabric cutting scissors, small scissors or seam ripper, ironing board + iron. Please provide these things.

For shipping the package, it is good if you have package tape ready.
