About the volunteering opportunity
The chat network is a free service offered by Malteser International where you can get to know new people and talk to them on the phone. You decide what to talk about, e.g. hobbies, everyday experiences or the weather.
People who want to talk are put through to our chat partners, who are volunteers. They make their time available for conversations, but do not offer advice and refer people to existing services in emergencies.

Your Tasks
Our volunteers, who we call "chatting partners", make their time available for conversations. They decide flexibly how often they do this. They also decide between themselves how long the conversations with the callers will last.
The prerequisite for the commitment is an introductory meeting, which takes place in a group of a maximum of 15 people via Teams. There you will get to know a Malteser contact person and can ask any questions you may have. All information about the chat network and how to register can also be found on the homepage: plaudernetz.malteser.de

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
The following are the requirements for joining the chat network:
- You are interested in communicating with other people
- You have a smartphone on which you can use the Plaudernetz app
- You have a cell phone number with a German area code
- You are at least 18 years old
Time required
Regularly
Discussed individually
You alone determine the time frame of your commitment. Depending on how it best fits into your private and professional life. To do this, you use the Plaudernetz app, where you can make yourself "available" or "not available". This allows you to make a flexible social commitment that you can do from the comfort of your couch at home, for example.
Location
This project is location independent.
